Our Beliefs

Jesus is the motivation behind all that we do at Canterbury Gardens Community Church. We love him, and because of this love, we seek to make him the centre of our lives and our Church community. This is why you will hear us talk about being a ‘Christ-centred’ Church.

So it’s worth asking, who is this Jesus?

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God. He sacrificed his life for us so that we could know freedom from sin and death. We believe that anyone who believes in him can know the wonder of being loved by God, the Creator of the universe. The story of what Jesus has done for us is called ‘the gospel’.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (John 3:16-17)

We know that we are saved, not because of anything we have done, but because of God’s great love, mercy and grace towards us.

Who is Jesus?

What does this mean for us as a Church?

WE PRAY
Because of Jesus, we can know God and be fully known by Him and have a relationship with Him. We pray because he is our Father and he listens to us, and we can do nothing without Him.

WE VALUE A CHRIST-CENTRED COMMUNITY
We all have a different story, but we find unity in our love for Jesus. Just as we are loved, we are called to love and to share our lives with each other.

WE GO AND TELL OTHERS
The transforming truth of what Jesus has done for us is simply too good to keep to ourselves! As people whose lives have been changed by Jesus, we want everyone to know about Him.

We want you to also experience the love of God through Jesus. Maybe you have questions. Maybe you grew up with Christianity but it doesn’t make sense. Maybe you’re apathetic. We welcome your doubts, fears and questions – because we’ve had them too! We would love you to join us at a service or get in touch with one of our Pastors if you would like to know more. It would be our joy to listen to you and help you understand more about who Jesus is.

For the word of the Lord is right and all His work is done in truth. Psalm 33:4.
