What's happening at Canterbury Gardens Community Church?

In The Local Neighbourhood

As a church body we have connection with our neighbourhood through several avenues. Also, many of our members are individually involved in various community groups..

Playgroup

Catering for families with children in the pre-school year, our Playgroups meet during the school term and provide a range of activities for both the children and the parents to enjoy. For more details of this activity, see the Playgroup section of our church life pages.

Kidz Klub

This is a weekly club for boys and girls in Years 1 - 6, held on Thursday nights from 6:20pm to 8pm. It is geared for kids of today, involving games, sports, crafts, learning activities, and occasional outings and camps. Costs per night of $2.

Kids Hope

Kids Hope Australia is a World Vision program aimed at creating a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable Australian children and their families. It is a mentoring ministry built on a long-term partnership between local churches and primary schools, where a caring adult from the church spends one hour each week with a child.

Our church operates the Kids Hope program in our local primary school, Bayswater North Primary School.

To find out more about the Kids Hope program at our church contact Heather Hall via the church office.

Bread Run

Each Sunday night around 6:30 pm bread, left over from the local bakery, is available from our church. Loaves, rolls, french sticks, multigrain or white - why go hungry when you can have bread for the taking? Bread is available from the "Blue Room" on your right as you enter our church foyer. For more information, contact David Fairey via the church office.

CareLink

We strive to be a caring church. With many different needs around us, CareLink enables church members to volunteer their help. This help includes providing and delivering meals, providing home help, doing handyman repairs, providing transport (appointments, etc), taking people shopping or helping them relocate. Occasionally, child minding is required to help new mums or in emergencies. For more information, contact Wendy Taylor via the church office.

Christian Religious Education

A number of our church family teach Christian Religious Education in local schools.

Community of Hope

The Community of Hope are people from different churches who are committed to encouraging the nurture, growth and spiritual healing of the whole person.

The Community of Hope has participated in Mind-Body-Spirit festivals Victoria for a number of years, and also in New Age and Community festivals in local areas. It encourages Christians to actively participate in such festivals and markets and to present the Good News of Jesus in a thoughtful, relevant and contemporary way.

For more information about Community of Hope, visit their website by clicking here or contact James Brown via the church office.
